Joint Statement – Kemp Little/Richard Kemp
6 May 2014
– STARTS –
Kemp Little LLP confirmed that Senior Partner Richard Kemp left the practice on Friday 2 May 2014 to launch his new firm.
Kemp & Co was founded in 1997 and became Kemp Little LLP in 2001. After establishing and then helping to guide the firm through 17 successful years of growth and development, Senior Partner Richard Kemp has decided to leave the firm and continue his career as a sole practitioner. Having spent a huge amount of time and energy leading then working with the firm’s Management Board, supporting other partners and steering the firm through recessions and structural changes, Richard has recently been spending more time focusing on fee-earning and less time on firm management and administration. He now feels it is a good time for him to leave Kemp Little and concentrate on doing the client work he loves but with the freedom that working for oneself can offer.
Executive partner Paul Garland commented “Richard has given a massive amount to the firm over the years and helped us to achieve great success. His dedication to exceptional client service has over the years become second nature to the entire firm. The firm is grateful to Richard for the huge contribution he has made over the years and very sad to say goodbye. Richard is leaving Kemp Little in a great position – a legacy he can be very happy with. We all wish him the very best in his new venture”.
“It’s been a great privilege to lead the firm from a standing start to its current position at the front rank of UK firms in its specialist area and I wish them all the best” said Kemp. “This is the right time for a new challenge and I’m really excited at the prospect of launching out and focusing entirely on client work again. The IT sector has never been more vibrant. IT law continues to expand, develop and absorb. Cost pressures, IT itself and ever more knowledgeable and discerning clients are taking legal services to new levels of segmentation and specialisation. As ever, it’s all about clients and making sure they get the service they want.”
